Men's 1962 Hamilton Solid Gold Award Watch for Armstrong in Box – SERVICED
Here’s something intensely satisfying about a vintage timepiece: It’s a comfortable work of tactile wrist art. It is a fascinating little time machine, able to transport one to a era when exceptional workmanship and art were intertwined and abundant. It is a class distinction.
Between 1850 and 1971, fashion and watchmaking converged into a golden age of design, with extraordinary strides being made in mechanical engineering and watch case design. During the early 20th century, gentlemen began wearing watches not only in their pockets but on their wrists.
As the world grew more prosperous and hectic, accurate timekeeping became a beautiful necessity.
This Hamilton Watch Company wristwatch – an award given in 1962 for a quarter-century of service – is a solid gold work of art, a culmination of the efforts some of horology’s most gifted craftsmen. It is both handsome and beautiful, elegant and practical. We love everything about this watch: its oversized horn lugs with slight faceting, its sophisticated 39mm by 32mm 10k yellow gold case, its attractive two-tone dial with platinum outer register highlighted by solid gold applied numerals. We love its high-grade 22 ruby-jewel mechanical engine. The watch represents not only an era of watch-making, it represents a quarter-century of someone’s life - and it does so quite well.
We’re delighted to offer this piece in fine, original condition, cleaned, oiled, calibrated and fitted with a genuine black crocodile strap and in a factory Hamilton presentation case.
We love our international clients and are honored to serve them. However, we cannot ship watches with crocodile/alligator or lizard straps overseas due to customs restrictions. We're happy to substitute a leather strap or ship without a strap.
