These areas are full proof for validating the authenticity of a Rolex:

  • The serial #
  • The model (reference) #
  • The movement #'s (serial # and caliber) & signature
  • The inside case back id #

It is important to note that Rolex has been around for more than 100 years. There have been many changes to Rolex watches throughout the years

  • Like all successful products and companies, the Rolex watch has evolved through the decades.
  • Almost every Rolex model has been around for many many decades. Rolex usually makes changes to each model about every 10 years (give or take a few years depending on the model). This includes changes to the band. Usually, each change is small so that it does not compromise the style and success of that model. (Example: A Rolex from the 1970's will be a little different from the same model from the 1980's and the 1980's Rolex will be a little different from the same model of the 1990's... and so on).
  • It is a red flag if a new Rolex is exactly the same as one from decades past. (Example: Although the styling has remained the same, a 1980's Datejust will look a little different than a new watch. This includes changes to the band. A new Datejust will even be heavier than the 1980's model. There have been many changes to the Datejust over the years, with the biggest changes happening mid 2000's).
  • Older Rolex watches typically weigh less than newer watches. This depends on the year of production and the model reference #.
  • Rolex parts and accessories have changed throughout the years. (Example: Before Rolex outfitted their watches with sapphire crystals, they used plastic crystals).

Due to Rolex's sales policies, authorized Rolex dealers are prohibited from providing verification of preowned Rolex watches with custom aftermarket additions (such as diamond accessories or a band)

  • We recommend you have it checked by a 3rd party independent Certified Watchmaker
  • If you have been told that the watch is not authentic, I can guarantee they did not show you the key areas pictured above and performed those four verification tests as they are the only 'full proof' verification methods. It is important for you to personally see each of the four areas... have them show you these areas for verification.

Remember that an Authorized Rolex Dealer is just a company that sells Rolex

  • They are not actually Rolex. They are just authorized to sell Rolex watches.
  • Employees that work for an Authorized Rolex Dealer do not need to know anything about Rolex except for the current product they sell.
  • Rolex is just one of the many items that an Authorized Rolex Dealer sells... so it would be impossible for them to be an expert in all years of production of all models and the different changes each product of each manufacturer has gone through for the last 100 years... They just need to be an expert in what products they have in the store.
  • An Authorized Rolex Dealer is the direct competition of an Internet Retailer... except they can not compete with the prices Internet merchants provide.

Aftermarket Parts and Accessories

  • Aftermarket parts and/or accessories are not made by the watch manufacturer. They are made by a company independent from the watch manufacturer. (Example: If the aftermarket part and/or accessory is on a Rolex, then that part is NOT made by Rolex)
  • Aftermarket parts and/or accessories can not have any of the watch manufacturer's trademarks, hallmarks or logos. (Example: If the aftermarket part is on a Rolex, then that part will NOT have a Rolex crown or logo)
  • On some watches, we do use aftermarket parts and/or accessories. Please review the description thoroughly as we provide full disclosure of what is aftermarket.

Box and papers NEVER guarantee authenticity

  • All box and papers do is guarantee the box and papers are authentic. The bad guys know that people put trust into original papers so by putting genuine papers with a fake watch allows them to pull off a scam...and when the buyer finds out down the road the watch was fake, the scammer is long gone.
  • The only way to check authenticity is by having the watch checked.

Box and papers are not included with any item except when noted in the description

  • As with most preowned watches, the original box and/or papers are not available because they were not retained by the original owner.

Appraisals are not included with any item except when noted in the description

  • Appraisals done/offered by the company from which you are buying an item from is a conflict of interest and is often viewed as biased. Many sellers will use inflated appraisals to help sell their items.
  • It is always best to have a 3rd party independent appraisal/jewelry company provide an appraisal. This is because they have nothing to gain or lose by providing truthful and accurate information.

A 'Service Box' is not the original Presentation Box that came with the watch when it was sold brand new

  • It is a genuine box that the manufacturer sends a watch back to the customer after being factory serviced.
  • If the watch comes with a Service Box, it does not mean that the watch has been serviced.

Water Resistance/Water Proof

We NEVER guarantee that any of the watches we sell are waterproof or water resistant:

  • If a watch comes with a BeckerTime warranty, the warranty does not cover water damage or any other damage that resulted from water entering the case.
  • Although we may pressure test a watch prior to being shipped, we do not guarantee any watch to be waterproof and do not cover any water issues under any type of warranty. The reason is because there are too many life factors that can contribute to a watch not being water resistant anymore. Statistically, this applies to even the most careful of watch wearers.

  2. I paid for expedited shipping (ie. UPS 2nd Day Air or UPS Next Day Air). Does this mean I will receive it in 2 days or next day?

    No. There is still a 4 business day processing time. Once the 4 business day processing time passes, your package will then ship via the expedited shipping method.
  3. Can you ship sooner than the 4 business day processing time?

    Due to our sales volume we can not ship sooner, but on rare occasions we may be able to make an exception… but you MUST contact us to make arrangements before payment. Please remember that our normal processing time is designed to make sure all watches leave our facility in the condition as described. We want to make sure every order is processed correctly and without errors. The unintended consequence of rushing an order with a timepiece of this caliber is vulnerable to a higher degree of errors.
  4. Will the package be shipped fully insured?

    Yes. All packages are shipped from our facility insured for the purchase amount.
  5. I received my watch and it is not working?

    Please email us so we can correct the issue to your satisfaction. Occasionally a rough shipping trip and/or altitude & temperature variations experienced in transit can cause a watch to not run properly. Pressure of trapped air molecules inside the case can cause either expansion or compression on the parts of the movement. Of course, this even happens to brand new watches when Rolex ships to an authorized Rolex dealer…except the adjustments of decompression and calibration are usually made in the store after the package has been delivered. Mechanical timepieces are not made to be shipped due to the fragility and complexity of a movement.

As per eBay guidelines, please respond within 3 days or your right to purchase the item may be withdrawn and we will notify eBay.
